Connecticut is considering expanding the state’s lawsuit against Stamford-based opioid maker Purdue Pharma to include pharmacies and others that distributed the company’s addictive product. “Our investigation is well beyond Purdue Pharma, it includes everyone in the chain of the addiction industry,” Attorney General William Tong told Hearst Connecticut Media. “We are ramping up and I’ve appointed a team and they are a strong group of experienced lawyers.” Asked who other than Purdue the state may hold liable for damages, Tong pointed to distributors and pharmacy benefit managers. “We are also considering pharmacy chains and what role did they have,” Tong said.
