Black Hawk recognized for 40 years of local benefits

With the company a manufacturing mainstay and its signature product at work around the world, executives and employees at Stratford-based Sikorsky say they are looking forward to the next four decades of Black Hawk helicopters. The Lockeed Martin subsidiary commemorated 40 years of developing and selling its Black Hawk on Wednesday, and officials said the helicopter put Sikorsky and state on the map in the combat aircraft industry, breathing life into Connecticut manufacturing. “When I think of the Black Hawk I think of hope, not just from the mission perspective but also what it offers families in this community,” said Dana Fiatarone, vice president of Army and Air Force systems at Sikorsky.
