MONROE — The intersection of Elm Street and Purdy Hill Road was flooded with first responders Tuesday night after a two car collision with extrication. The call came in around 7 p.m. Tuesday for a two-car crash, officials said Wednesday. Police and firefighters from Monroe Volunteer Fire Department and Stepney Fire Department raced to the scene to help those involved. Fire units had to extricate one of the injured parties from the car, fire officials said. The firefighters did a “quick door pop” and provided scene safety until the vehicles were removed. The seriousness of the injuries was not immediately provided.
