Herbst campaign tours Ansonia

ANSONIA — Tim Herbst got a firsthand view Wednesday of the old and new in the city, as well as earful on what’s needed from the state’s new governor. Over at RugpadUSA, which recently took residence in one of the vacant Farrel Foundry buildings, Kurt Froelich, its Stratford co-owner, told Herbst about the challenges his 54 employees are having meeting health care costs. “I feel bad for them,” Froelich told Herbst, the former Trumbull first selectman now one of five Republican candidates seeking an Aug. 14 primary win for the gubernatorial nomination. “I’m paying 80 percent, but they’re having trouble meeting the 20 percent. For a family it’s about $1,300 a month.
