Bridgeport students to get second shot at SATs

BRIDGEPORT — If scores on the state administered SAT’s to high school juniors in 2018 is any indication, city students need all the practice they can get. So the cash-strapped district will spend $37,572 to give 1,200 high school seniors another crack at taking the college-readiness test. The city school board, with six members present, voted unanimously to spend the money which they were told represents a $20,000 discount over what the College Board normally charges. City high school students already take the PSAT’s a practice test, in the fall of their junior year. The fee for that is covered through a state Alliance Grant. Monday’s approval will allow seniors to take the SAT again, during a school day in October.
