A 43-year-old Southbury man has been arrested for killing a black bear on his mother-in-law’s property earlier this month. According to state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Conservation Police, at 6:10 p.m. on May 24 officers went to 20 Pascoe Road. after a report of a man firing a gun at a bear. When police arrived, Joshua Gendron told them he shot a bear. Gendron said he was “summoned” by his mother in-law to her house because there was a bear in her yard. EnCon police said Gendron allegedly retrieved a rifle and pistol before he proceeded to to her house. Officers’ observed numerous bear attractants placed in the yard including bird feeders, open bird seed, bread crumbs and some apples.
