DERBY — Police have identified the man who was killed in a crash on Route 34 early Tuesday morning. Christopher Etes, 36 of Sandy Hook, was pronounced dead at the scene near Buckingham Road. Etes was driving the Jeep involved in the crash with a box truck, and a preliminary investigation showed he was the driver at fault in the incident, Derby Police said in a statement. The driver of the box truck was delivering doughnuts to Dunkin Donuts locations was transported to Yale and is in stable condition, police said. The accident caused part of Route 34 to be closed until around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Orange and Seymour Police assisted with the accident reconstruction, and police are still investigating the incident.
