STRATFORD — Stratford police will be more diligent than usual to crack down on distracted driving during the month of April. The department is teaming up with the Connecticut Department of Transportation during National Distracted Driving Awareness month to make sure all motorists keep their eyes on the road. Stratford police will participate in the “U Drive. U Text. U Pay” enforcement campaign from April 2 to April 30. “Distracted driving is a real problem,” said police Capt. Frank Eannotti in a prepared statement. “During this enforcement period, officers will be ticketing anyone who is texting or on their phone while behind the wheel.” And if you violate the state’s distracted driving laws, it won’t be cheap.
