TOLLAND — Reports indicate a state trooper has died from injuries sustained during a serious crash in Tolland on Thursday. The Department of Transportation indicated that the crash involved a car and a tractor trailer and that the highway was closed between exits 68 and 69. The DOT reported the crash shortly after 12:30 p.m. Shortly before 1 p.m., state police reported that Interstate 84 eastbound at exit 68 was closed for a crash with serious injury. Reports started pouring in on social media around 2:40 p.m. that a state trooper had died from injuries sustained in the crash. State police had not publicly commented on the fatality as of 4 p.m. On Twitter, several people had tweeted to the state police, expressing their condolences.
