SHELTON-Mayor Mark Lauretti is not surprised Gov. Dannel P. Malloy postponed $4.3 billion in transportation projects including one which would improved rail service by adding more trains and making track improvements on the Waterbury line which runs through the Valley municipalities. “When you are not managing money properly and constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul this happens,” said Lauretti, Shelton’s 14-term mayor and a leading candidate for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. “It all goes back to the commitments the state makes without properly budgeting for them. This is a constant problem.
