BRIDGEPORT — The year-long fight over building a $55 million, privately run student housing complex on busy Park Avenue reached a possible end Monday night, when Zoning Commission members rejected the development. The four story, 179-unit, 600-bed facility, which would have served — but would not been owned by — Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, was deemed a poor fit for the suburban North End neighborhood. Developer ABS Capital of Florida had its sites set on 4100 Park Ave., the current location of the Monticello Gardens apartments. “I’m very happy the way it turned out,” City Councilwoman Michelle Lyons said of the Zoning Commission members’ 6-to-3 vote against ABS.
