A look at the numbers: Crime in Ansonia in 2017, 2018

ANSONIA — Out of various crimes reported to town police in 2017 and 2018, only the number of reported assaults saw a decrease between the two years, data showed. There were 121 reported assaults in 2017, which dropped slightly to 117 in 2018, according to data provided by Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch. There were no homicides either year. Otherwise, crime numbers saw an increase in Ansonia, though some only slight. Reported sexual assaults went from three in 2017 to four in 2018. Burglaries climbed from 24 in 2017 to 29 in 2018. Arson cases increased from one in 2017 to two in 2018. Stolen motor vehicles increased from 49 in 2017 to 62 in 2018.
