BRIDGEPORT - A Trumbull surgical center has agreed to pay a settlement to the family of a Stratford man, who died there after the center's medical staff mistakenly dosed him with a toxic agent. Joshua Koskoff, the lawyer for the family of Michael Palmer Sr., stated in Superior Court Tuesday that the settlement had been reached as the case was about to go on trial before a jury. The details of the settlement were not disclosed and Koskoff declined to comment on the case. The lawsuit claims the staff at the Surgery Center of Fairfield County performed more complex surgery on the 53-year-old Palmer than the center is authorized to do. The center is run by Surgical Care Affiliates, operator of about 185 surgical centers nationwide.
