Nurse awarded for aiding crash victim

A casual family outing to the park turned into a dramatic rescue for an area nurse — one that led her to receive a Quality Award from Bridgeport Hospital Medical intensive care unit nurse Vallerie Push recently received the award on the strength of a letter from a co-worker who detailed Push’s heroic efforts. According the letter, Push and her husband Mike were driving with their dog to the park when they came across a man who had just crashed his motorcycle. “The rider was alone, lying on the highway and in serious condition.,” the letter read. “Without hesitation, they pulled over and Vallerie ran to help him. Instinctively, she kneeled by his side, held his hand and comforted him.
