VERNON — A man who abducted his son in Canada in 1987 was arrested on Friday in Vernon, the Department of Justice said. Allan Mann Jr., 66, allegedly abducted his 21-month-old son on June 24, 1987, during a court-ordered visit in Toronto, Canada. Mann was taken into custody Friday morning on a federal criminal complaint that charged him with making false statement and making false statements in HUD transactions. He appeared in Hartford court and was detained. The U.S. Marshals Service is working with Canadian authorities and the child’s mother to notify her that her son has been identified and found.
