Fairfield County synagogues react to Pittsburgh synagogue shooting

A shooter opened fire at Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday, leaving at least 10 people dead. The shooter was identified by authorities as 46-year-old Robert Bowers. The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime. Following the news of the shooting, which took place at the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, a reform Jewish synagogue in Westport released a statement about its security. “I want you to know that security of our congregants, students and staff continues to be our highest priority,” said a statement from Temple Israel in Westport. “We have professional security on our premises every day.
