BRIDGEPORT -A city police officer, arrested on assault charges after being accused of beating a man who collided with the officer’s Mercedes sedan, has been granted a pretrial probation program. Davon Polite, a 4-year member of the police force and the head of the department’s minority organization, The Guardians, was granted accelerated rehabilitation Wednesday despite the objection of the victim in the case. “I am happy the judge imposed this equitable resolution to the case,” said Polite’s lawyer, Dennis Bradley. “My client is absolutely not guilty of these charges and this program will result in those charges being dismissed.
