Treasurer candidates roll out TV commercials

“Like too many of us, I’ve lost a family member to gun violence,” Shawn Wooden says in his first television commercial. Wooden’s cousin, 24-year-old Michael Bailey, was shot dead on June 9, 2012 on Ashley Street in Hartford. Bailey was a father of two, with a third on the way. Wooden called him “Mike Mike.” Wooden is now the Democrats’ endorsed candidate for state treasurer. He and his challenger, Dita Bhargava, are both telling personal stories in their first television ads. Meanwhile, Republican Art Linares, who will try to beat his party’s endorsed candidate, Thad Gray, used his first television ad to pitch his conservative policies. All three will appear on television across the state through Aug.
