BRIDGEPORT - State prosecutors on Thursday reduced the charges against a Milford man accused of raping a Stratford woman he met through an online dating website. State’s Attorney John Smriga told Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin that after consulting with the alleged victim in the case he was reducing the charges of first-degree sexual assault and second-degree unlawful restraint against Carmen Tragianese to a single count of fourth-degree sexual assault. Smriga declined comment on the change. Tragianese’s lawyer, Edward Gavin, then told the judge they would be filing an application for accelerated rehabilitation, a pretrial probation program for nonviolent offenders.
