BRIDGEPORT — Supporters of Bassick Principal Byron Williams say they will hold a press conference on the steps of City Hall, 45 Lyons Terrace, in search of answers. The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, July 30. A group which includes JoAnn Kennedy, a community member whose children graduated from Bassick, say they are concerned that Williams will be reassigned. Williams was named last summer to serve as principal of Bassick. It was a controversial choice in that he was not the pick of faculty or the school governance council. He also has had numerous clashes with Albert Benejan, the school’s Parent Teacher Organization president.
