STRATFORD - A convicted sex offender was charged Monday with downloading child pornography from the internet. Karl Newbauer, 56, of Lambert Drive, was charged with third-degree possession of child pornography. He was being held in lieu of $75,000 bond. Local police recently received notice from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Newbauer had been downloading child porn, police said. NCME, with the aid of state and federal law enforcement, monitors the internet for child pornography. Police said Newbauer was found to have downloaded three images from the Internet of boys being sexually assaulted by adult men.
