BRIDGEPORT - The president of The Guardians, the Police Department’s minority officer organization, who is awaiting trial on assault charges, has been reinstated in the Police Department. “Effective immediately Officer Davon Polite will be assigned to uniformed services “A” Shift patrol from administrative suspension,” reads the memo from Police Chief Armando Perez. The memo was sent out the same day that the chief sent out the memo suspending his aide, Capt. Mark Straubel who has been accused of sending racist texts. Perez declined comment. “I am happy he has been reinstated,” said Polite’s lawyer, Dennis Bradley.
