BRIDGEPORT — The National Weather Service said there is a possibility of strong winds and half-dollar-sized hail when it issued a severe thunderstorm warning Saturday afternoon. The warning was issued at 3:30 p.m. and last until 4 p.m. The affected areas are expected to be in north central Fairfield County and northwestern New Haven County. NWS personnel spotted a severe thunderstorm over Pawling, New York, moving east at 35 mph. The radar indicated a possibility of 60 mph wind gusts and half-dollar-sized hail, NWS said. “Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible,” the warning said. “Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.” Around 3:45 p.m., the thunderstorm is expected to be around Sherman and New Fairfield.
