Feds: Meriden man to serve time for role in drug trafficking conspiracy

MERIDEN — A Meriden man will serve three years in prison for his role in a heroin and cocaine trafficking conspiracy, the Department of Justice said. Justin Doherty, 25, of Meriden, was sentenced Thursday to three years imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release. Court documents and statements made in court showed that in late Oct. 2016, law enforcement agencies intercepted two packages with suspected narcotics that were mailed from southern California to two different addresses in Meriden. On Nov. 2, 2016, a court-authorized search of the packages led law enforcement to find about 6.5 kilograms of cocaine and about 1.06 kilograms of heroin, the DOJ said.
