The Connecticut fire crew will leave Friday to help the U.S. Forest Service battle wildfires. The crew is made up of two Department of Energy and Environmental Protection staff members, 16 local residents and firefighters and two firefighters from New Hampshire. The group will leave from DEEP Eastern District headquarters at 209 Hebron Road in Marlorough, Massachusetts, at 5:30 a.m. Friday. They will start to get there around 4 a.m. It wasn’t immediately disclosed where the crew would be headed. The fire crew is maintained through DEEP. The agency keeps a roster of DEEP staff members and personnel from local fire departments who are certified to fight forest fires and wildfires.
