BRIDGEPORT — Police Chief Armando Perez’s top aide was placed on administrative leave Monday following accusations the aide sent racist texts regarding another officer. “Effective immediately, Captain Mark Straubel will be transferred from the chief’s office to administrative leave,” states a memo issued Monday by Perez that was obtained by Hearst Connecticut Media. Administrative leave is paid leave. “I can confirm he (Straubel) was put on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Office of Internal Affairs,” said police union president Charles Paris. “We are waiting to see where this goes.
