“The fearful dog” kind of sounds like the name of a pub frequented by well-meaning miscreants in a Disney movie, but it’s both the topic of an upcoming talk at Griffin Hospital, and a real issue faced by pet owners. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30, Griffin Hospital’s Pet Therapy Program will host an educational talk on how to help fearful dogs at the hospital, 130 Division St., Derby. Certified Professional Dog Trainer Debbie Jacobs, author of “A Guide To Living With & Training A Fearful Dog” and “Does My Dog Need Prozac?,” creator of Fearfuldogs.com, and administrator of the Fearful Dogs Facebook group will discuss the most effective and humane ways to work with fearful, shy, anxious, reactive and aggressive dogs.
