Though flu activity in the state is still elevated and people are still dying from the illness, the state Department of Public Health state is its final flu report of the season that flu activity is “rapidly decreasing” and has been downgraded from “regional” to “local.” Local flu activity means that outbreaks of influenza or increases in influezna-like illnesses and lab-confirmed flu in a single region of the state. Previously, the state’s flu activity had been classifed as “regional,” meaning that outbreaks of flu are in at least two but less than half the regions of the state with recent laboratory evidence of influenza in those regions.
