Mohegan Indians say no slot revenue if sports betting

HARTFORD - The Mohegan Indians are telling the state they will cut off slot machine revenue if sports betting is authorized statewide. In a letter to House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz, D-Berlin, Mohegan Attorney General Helga Woods said a bill before the General Assembly to legalize sports betting would violate the compacts with the tribes and end the $250 million annual slot payments from the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casino resorts. "If the state authorizes video facsimile gaming ...the exclusivity provisions of [the compact] would be violated and our obligations to make the slot contributions cease," Woods said.
