Jonathan Harris, former state senator and head of the state Democratic party, will drop from the governor’s race and throw his support to Ned Lamont. Harris will formally make the announcement at an 11:30 a.m. press conference in the State Capitol. The 53-year-old, who started a statewide exploratory committee last year, after Gov. Dannel P. Malloy ruled out a third term, had called for an end to partisan political “negativity.” He promised to try to unite people to solve common problems, while tackling the state’s major issues of job-creation, economic-development and education.
