BRIDGEPORT - As expected, Mayor Joe Ganim Monday launched a petition drive to get onto this summer’s gubernatorial primary ballot. “With headquarters being set up in Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Waterbury, we are announcing today the beginning of a statewide grassroots petition drive that will tap into Democratic voters who want a choice for governor,” Ganim said. He is still aiming to obtain the 15 percent of delegate votes at the party’s May 18 convention that would automatically land Ganim on the primary ballot. The petition drive — requiring nearly 15,500 signatures — is a back up if that does not happen.
