ORANGE — A Derby woman was arrested earlier this month after allegedly assaulting the driver of a car in which she was a passenger, reportedly causing an accident. According to the Orange Police Department, shortly after 2 a.m. April 20, police learned that Newington Police had arrested Kyla Rochford, 37, of Derby, for whom Orange Police had an outstanding warrant. The warrant stemmed from an April 7 incident in which Rochford was allegedly the passenger in a motor vehicle driving on Route 34. Police said that Rochford got into an argument with the driver of the vehicle, and slapped and punched him in the face while he was driving. This allegedly caused him to lose control of the vehicle, go off the roadway, and hit a telephone pole.
