HARTFORD — Leaders of Bridgeport, Hamden and Torrington rallied at the Capitol Wednesday to call for a remaining $5 million in car tax reimbursements they say their towns are owed by the state. “It’s really blown a hole in budgets,” said Mayor Joe Ganim. Two weeks ago, Bridgeport received $3 million in supplemental car tax reimbursement money from the state, according to the Office of Policy and Management. The state also doled out a few hundred thousand to Hamden and Torrington. But OPM promised to hand out $10 million in reimbursements total, legislative delegations from the three towns said Wednesday. Towns need the rest of the money, Ganim said.
