STRATFORD — To celebrate World Book Day, April 23, the UNESCO Center for Global Friendship Inc. will hold a book drive in April to collect 3,000 books for its free library programs in Haiti, Nicaragua and Jamaica. “We strongly believe that reading can save lives and broaden our horizons.” said Angelucci Manigat Jr., executive director of UCGF. “In countries with limited access to electricity and internet services, physical books remain in high demand,” adds Manigat. For this campaign, The UNESCO Center is accepting books in English, Spanish, French and Haitian Creole. To schedule a book delivery or pick-up, call 203-981-5527. Monetary donations can be made on the website http://unescocgf.org/ .
