BRIDGEPORT — The city will host free Stop the Bleed training Saturday morning. The training will begin at 10 a.m. at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center on Broad Street. The free event is open to all city employees and residents over the age of 12. The purpose of the Stop the Bleed campaign is to help people be prepared to provide initial care to someone before paramedics arrive. This campaign is an effort to encourage bystanders to step in during emergency situations. The program was launched in Oct. 2015 by the White House. Now, it is a national awareness campaign. For more information on the campaign, visit www.dhs.gov/stopthebleed. Those interested in participating can register by calling 203-549-3829.
