HARTFORD — A Stratford state senator is again attempting to gain health insurance coverage for uninsured women who become pregnant. State Sen. Kevin Kelly, R-Stratford, on Tuesday announced he will reintroduce a bill blocked last year by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy that allows uninsured pregnant women to enroll in health insurance and gain prenatal care. "According to the [Center of Disease Control], women who don’t receive prenatal care are three to four times more likely to die of pregnancy-related complications than women who do," said Kelly, co-chairman of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee.
