BRIDGEPORT — With ever new schools superintendent, a new strategic plan is never far behind. The city school board, on Monday, unanimously approved a new district road map developed by Schools Superintendent Aresta Johnson and dozens of staff members. The 30-page document outlines what Johnson wants to accomplish and focus on through 2020 with an overriding emphasis placed on creating a culturally- responsive and high performing learning environments where students thrive. Johnson became the district’s superintendent a year ago and in June 2016 began crafting her district improvement plan. “We are going to be relentless and determined,” Johnson told the board, suggesting success won’t necessarily be dependent on the budget.
