Connecticut will consider the National Popular Vote Compact, again

HARTFORD — Democratic Senate and House lawmakers feel this year they may have enough support to pass legislation for Connecticut to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. In a press conference Tuesday, top Democratic legislators emphasized that now is the time to bolster voters’ confidence in elections by showing them their vote matters. “I fully reject the notion that the citizens of America in 2018 cannot be trusted to directly elect their president,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney D-New Haven. “The Electoral College is clearly an anachronism.
