At 11 a.m. on Monday, February 26, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) will tour the Farrell Treatment Center in New Britain to call on Congress to immediately dispatch $6 billion in new opioid funding. For the first time, drug overdose deaths in the state topped 1,000 in 2017—a sobering statistic that ranks Connecticut 11th nationwide for drug overdose mortality. As part of the bipartisan budget agreement reached earlier this month, Congress approved $6 billion in new funding to combat the opioid epidemic.
