HARTFORD — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Wednesday morning will unveil a menu of possible ways to strengthen the state’s quickly depleting fund for transporation projects and renew $4.3-billion in highway projects that he recently canceled for lack of funding. Malloy has scheduled a 10 a.m. news conference that is expected to include ways to avert planned hikes in bus and rail fares. The options, which will be presented to the General Assembly when it reconvenes on February 7, is the result of weeks of meetings with advocates and industry experts in attempt to shore up the Special Transportation Fund, which is on track to become insolvent in 2020.
