A 21-year-old man, who State Police say, was in a car that nearly struck a trooper’s cruiser on Route 8, was arrested on marijuana charges early Monday. Troopers say a 2014 Volkswagen Passat was driving southbound on Route 8 at 12:15 a.m. Monday. “The Volkswagen failed to move over a lane and nearly struck a stationary State Police cruiser, with the emergency lights activated,” state police said. His car was then stopped near Exit 7 in Trumbull. Probable cause was developed to search the vehicle. “During the course of the traffic stop, the passenger Jonathan Darin Ven, of Naugatuck, admitted to having a “small amount” of marijuana which he provided.
