Derby Police: 2 juveniles attempted to break into parked vehicle

DERBY — Police said they are looking for one outstanding juvenile that attempted to break into a parked vehicle Sunday evening in Derby. The other juvenile involved — a 14-year-old from Ansonia — was detained and referred to juvenile court for a third-degree criminal attempt at burglary charge. Around 7 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of Silver Hill Road on a report of two juveniles attempting to break into a vehicle parked in someone’s driveway. The resident’s home security system alerted him to the activity and he was able to detain on the juveniles until police arrived. Derby police are following up and hope to locate the second suspect. No photo or video evidence of the scene was provided.
