As a member of the House intelligence committee, Rep. Jim Himes has read the dueling memos — the Republican one alleging FBI and Justice Department misconduct in seeking a warrant to wiretap a Trump campaign operative, and the Democratic response. It’s no secret Republicans are dying to redirect the narrative away from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump 2016 campaign contacts with Russia. But it remains to be seen whether the memo penned by committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Fla., will end up as a silver bullet or a self-inflicted wound. Himes, a Democrat, believes it to be the latter.
