Since the start of the Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday, Connecticut State Police handed out nearly 2,000 tickets. More than half of the infractions (1,298 tickets) relate to hazardous driving like unsafe lane changes, following too closely, use of cell phones, texting and failing to signal. The second most tickets were handed out for speeding violations (580), followed by seatbelt violations (49). The infractions are the result of the State polices extra enforcement for the Thanksgiving weekend, which ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Troopers are particularly targeting aggressive and drunken drivers during the campaign. As of 8 a.m.
