Since the start of the Thanksgiving weekend, State Police have handed out nearly 700 tickets. Those 696 tickets included such violations as unsafe lane changes, following too closely, use of cell phones, texting and failing to signal. There were another 311 tickets for speeding and five for not wearing a seat belt. State Police are supplementing the normal patrol force with additional troopers throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The increased patrols began at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday and will conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. The numbers released Friday morning are from shortly after midnight Wednesday to 8 a.m. Friday. State police also busted 22 people for DUI, investigated 235 accidents, 33 that involved injuries.
