Part of the Trump resistance among Democratic state attorneys general, Connecticut’s George Jepsen shocked both political allies and foes Monday by announcing that he will not seek a third term in 2018. The former state Senate majority leader and former chairman of the Connecticut Democrats had not given any signals that he planned to move on from his office. Jepsen, 63, a former Stamford resident, is scheduled to hold a 2 p.m. news conference to discuss his political future. He was not prepared to comment when reached by Hearst Connecticut Media. His longtime adviser and campaign chairman, Stephen Jewett, issued a statement on Jepsen.
