Flu cases rising in state, but not widespread yet

The number of flu cases in Connecticut is climbing, though it hasn’t yet been declared widespread in the state. According to statistics released by the state Department of Public Health on Tuesday, 96 people had tested positive for the flu, as of Nov. 18, up from 85 the week before. The flu is still classified as “local” in the state, meaning outbreaks of influenza or increases in influenza-like illness and recent laboratory-confirmed influenza are concentrated in a single region of the state. So far, the bulk of confirmed flu cases, 44, have been in Fairfield County. Hartford County is a distant second, with 24.
