Derby hires economic development director, after nearly a decade without one.

Derby has gone for years without an economic development director, until recently. But the Board of Aldermen and Alderwomen never approved the director's salary which is $85,000 a year. While the mayor doesn't need to obtain alder approval for the hire, he does need their approval for a salary per the city charter.
