Motorcycle crash closes Route 72 ramp in Plainville

PLAINVILLE — Traffic on Route 72 east was halted Sunday following a motorcycle crash, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The agency said the collision, which was reported at 3:19 p.m., took place between exits 4 and 7 on the highway's eastbound lanes.

In a Twitter post, state police said the crash forced crews to close the ramp from Route 72 to Interstate 84 east. Police said traffic was diverted to Interstate 84 west and warned motorists to seek alternate routes due to the backup.

It is unclear if the crash resulted in any injuries. There was no further information immediately available.
