Feds: Planner of Bridgeport courthouse shooting pleads guilty to racketeering charge

A Bridgeport man, described by prosecutors as a member of the Original North End gang, pleaded guilty Monday to a racketeering charge in federal court, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

As part of his plea, 21-year-old Tyiese Warren also admitted to his role in the 2019 shooting death of Ty’Quess Moore, and to taking part in the drive-by shooting near the state courthouse steps in Bridgeport in 2020, according to officials.

Warren, also known as “Loose Screw,” also admitted to gang-related drug trafficking, officials said. He pleaded guilty to one count conspiracy to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity. He faces up to life in prison when he appears for sentencing on Jan. 21, 2022, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Prosecutors allege members of the ONE gang were based out of the Trumbull Gardens area of the city and “sold narcotics, laundered narcotics proceeds, committed acts of violence against rival gang members, robbed drug dealers, stole cars from inside and outside Connecticut and used them to commit crimes, and tampered with witnesses who might testify against them,” the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

Between 2017 and August of 2020, the group was allied with the Greene Homes Boyz, a group based out of the Charles F. Greene Homes Housing Complex in the city’s North End, according to authorities. The two factions were aligned against other rivals in the city, including the East End, East Side PT Barnum gangs and 150, a group based out of the West Side of Bridgeport, authorities said.

“In pleading guilty, Warren admitted that on December 8, 2019, he and others shot and killed Ty’Quess Moore, a member or associate of the East End/P.T. Barnum gang alliance,” the U.S. attorney’s office said.
